  3. The Pastoral Search Committees and the Deacon Board thank everyone for their continued prayers. To date, we have received three applications, one for each of the job listings.  After review, neither the applicant for the FT English Pastor position nor the one for the PT Cantonese women’s ministry position was deemed a suitable candidate and therefore did not receive an interview.  The good news, however, is that the applicant for the FT Cantonese ministry position has been reviewed, interviewed, and confirmed.  He is none other than Pastor Jason, our fellow PT worker.  He is currently awaiting the government’s approval of his FT work permit before he can formally begin his employment.  Thus, please continue to pray for him.

  1. New Sermon Series Starting March 1

We are starting a new sermon series starting March 1 entitled “Taking the Road Less Traveled.” In this series of sermons, which will take us up to April 12, we will examine and look for ways to apply in our lives what it means to live “the Jesus way.” The early followers of Jesus did not refer to themselves as “Christians” – a term that was attributed to them by others and was meant at least in part as a derogatory term – but instead referred to themselves as “followers of the Way.” The question we need to ask is what did that mean to them and what did Jesus intend for us to understand and apply in our lives when he said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Come ready to have your thinking and your way of living challenged and changed as together we step out in faith!

  5. Update on Pastor Don’s STM Trip to Cuba

Unfortunately this trip has been postponed indefinitely due to deteriorating conditions in Cuba. We received notice from the Cuban leaders themselves who were organizing our trip at that end, stating that due to the crisis they are experiencing, causing severe shortages in fuel, food and other resources, all travel, seminary activities and incoming short-term mission trips have been canceled in order to make what limited resources they have available for local pastors and missionaries and their families. Thank you so much for your generous donations but for now we will be putting on hold collecting any more donations. We will wait for further word as to whether or not this trip will go ahead at a later date and keep you informed about that. Please be in prayer for the situation in Cuba and the desperate conditions under which our brothers and sisters live and serve the Lord.

  1. Casa de Luz STM Trip

We have 16 members committed for the STM trip to Casa de Luz. The team is praying for more people to join and come to experience with us God’s work in the Casa de Luz community. While our travel date is still about four months away, because of our limited choice in flights, these need to be booked well in advance. Join us for a life changing experience. All ages are welcome. As two families in our church are doing, make it a family experience! For those with a desire to join the team a formal application needs to be filled out. These can be made available to you by contacting Pastor Don as soon as possible to confirm your participation in this trip. You can do so in person on Sundays, or by email –  – or by texting or calling – (604) 838-9051. When you do, please identify clearly who you are. If you call and there is no answer, please leave a message with a return number for me to call you back.

  1. Please read the bulletin for this item.
  2. Please pray for the sick and their family.
